Mersey / Medway Connectivity
With its partners, MTRI proposes to improve aquatic connectivity and therefore fish habitat upstream from Kejimkujik National Park on public land in the Medway Community Forest (MCF) and the proposed Medway Lakes Wilderness Area (MLWA). Objective 1: Complete detailed assessments of all road stream crossings with culverts on MCF and MLWA land in Year 1 (including public roads crossing tributaries on adjacent land) to determine fish passability and identify options for remediation (Approx. 20 assessments total: 9 in MCFC, approx. 5 in MLWA, and approx. 6 near Kejimkujik National Park). Objective 2: In Year 1, replace, remove, or remediate 3-6 culverts identified as being impassable to fish in the detailed assessments and 2015 Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources (NSDNR) study
