Confederacy of Mainland Mi’kmaq & Mi'kmaw Conservation Group (MCG)

The Confederacy of Mainland Mi'kmaq (The CMM) is a Tribal Council incorporated in 1986 as a not-for-profit organization. The organization is supported by more than sixty employees, who deliver a variety of community programs and advisory services to First Nation Communities in Nova Scotia. The mission statement is to: "Proactively promote and assist Mi'kmaw communities' initiatives toward self determination and enhancement of issues”. As a not-for-profit organization, The CMM receives financial support from various government departments (federal and provincial), as well as from the private sector.

Mi'kmaw Conservation Group (MCG) is a program administered by The CMM. The primary focus of MCG is to develop programs and projects that will "promote and restore the concept of Netukulimk in the Bay of Fundy watershed". Netukulimk is sustaining oneself and one's community from the bounty of Mother Earth while also sustaining the environment for future generations. Restoring habitat to protect and renew the bounty of our streams and oceans is at the forefront of our minds. The MCG is guided by an advisory board of Mi'kmaq communities who partner in protecting the Bay of Fundy watershed and its aquatic life. The communities that are involved with the CMM and MCG include: Annapolis Valley, Fort Folly, Glooscap, Millbrook, Pictou Landing and Sipekne'katik First Nations.
